The NKMB Bike-a-thon happened at Birds Hill Park on Thursday evening, July 16/09. The weather was cool, cloudy and windy, but many brave souls came out in support of the worthy cause of Mully Children's Family. Participants walked, ran, rollerbladed or biked the 11.2km loop at the park. We had a wonderful time!!
We would like to say thank you to all those that participated. Together we are making a difference. With our recent heavy rains, it is hard to imagine how desperate the situation in Kenya is. There they are praying for the rains. The final total of donations for the Bike-a-thon is not in yet, but it is over $20,000 (in donations & pledges) to date! It will go a long way to purchase food for the 2013 children.
Prizes were presented to the following:
1. Best decorated bike: Michael
2. Most number of sponsors/pledges: Rick
3. Most $$ raised: Irene
4. First one to register for the bike-a-thon: Jen
5. Oldest participant: Henry
Congratulations!
Thank you to the NKMB Church Council with a very special thank you to Marlene, Pastor Vic, Hardy, Danny and our evening sponsors!

Hi Arvid and Ruth! We've just returned from MCF where you are in the hearts and prayers of the family. You are facing intense challenges and once again we are humbled and inspired by the level of your committment to caring for the children of the Mully Family. Without Divine intervention, MCF is a week from the start of a crisis. Water had pooled in the river and they were using it as their only source of irrigation but it will only last a few more days. heartbreaking to think of them watching their crops wither as they have over 100 acres of vegetables planted. the kids sang and prayed by the river then Charles announced that they should take advantage of the great opportunity to play soccer on the dry bed. Lydia prayed and Paul Gachoka was front and centre in the karate demonstration! Jacobs' well is running dangerously low and they may need to truck water from the Yatta borehole for drinking water in Ndalani. However, your friend Charles remains focused on extending himself while they wait for God's will. Over the last few days they were hosting educational seminars for 3,000 kids from local schools, hired 4 doctors to come and do a medical clinic for hundreds in the community and were making plans to host a team of 40 from Toronto. pretty amazing - you and Charles have much in common! REALLY Sorry to hear about the bursitis Arvid. I'm sure Ruth is taking extra special care of you! God bless you and know that every penny you raise will go a very long way at MCF.

PS - the Spa Utopia dining room is looking great and the dam your friends helped create is MASSIVE! one week of heavy rain will set MCF up for a year!
